Enya Zhu - State President
Enya Zhu, a junior at Lincoln East High School, is honored to serve as your State President. When not occupied with all things HOSA, she can be found napping, reading, or practicing violin. Her enthusiasm for the health field has propelled her to state and regional awards in the Nebraska Junior Academy of Sciences (NJAS) Science Fair for biomedical research. Outside of HOSA, Enya is involved with Science Olympiad, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), speech, orchestra and tennis. In her free time, she loves to volunteer in the music therapy program at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital. With the support of Nebraska HOSA, she hopes to connect the diversity within HOSA members and create a strong team of Health Occupations students. Enya is so excited to lead, serve, and engage with Nebraska HOSA members to become the medical professionals saving the lives of the future.
Conner Brown - State Secretary
Conner is very passionate about the healthcare field. He aspires to become an orthopedic surgeon. On his path throughout high school, he has shadowed hours upon hours of surgery, from cataract removals to total knee replacements. He testifies how valuable career shadowing can be in order to narrow down career interests. Conner is also involved in many other extra-curricular activities. He was awarded his Eagle Scout medallion by the BSA in June of 2016, and has also been involved in many sports, including baseball, basketball, taekwondo, tennis, track & field, football and his favorite, wrestling. He was inducted into the National Honor Society on April 24th, 2017. Conner loves to travel and has visited many pinpoints on the globe. As a HOSA State Officer, Conner wishes to help members have more valuable experiences and opportunities within the healthcare setting.
Megan Leasure - State Vice President
My name is Megan Leasure and I am from Verdigre, NE! (You know where the first little dip in the northeast Nebraska area is? Follow that down ten miles and you will find the village of Verdigre!) I just graduated this past spring and I am attending Nebraska Wesleyan University majoring in psychology with the Pre - Physician’s Assistant track. I am also a member of the track team at NWU! Some of my extra-curricular activities throughout school involved HOSA, FFA, speech, choir, band, art-club, cheerleading, cross country, track, basketball - I was a very active high school student! With that being said, I plan on continuing that momentum while serving as your state vice president! Coming from a rural community, I plan to spread the word of health care and opportunities to other areas of the state in hopes of growing the state of Nebraska’s HOSA membership! Throughout my year as an officer, I want to advocate for health care and professionals while growing more as a leader and taking more risks. I hope that not only myself, but the whole officer team, will make an impact this year on Nebraska HOSA.
Kiersten Preuss - State Vice President
Kiersten Preuss is a student at Millard North High School. She is an officer of her FCCLA chapter and a member of Delta Epsilon Phi a national German honors society. Her hobbies outside of school and clubs include going to the gym, kickboxing, and reading. She also works for a nonprofit boutique where proceeds go to the Bethlehem House for pregnant women in crisis. What attracted her to HOSA was her interest in the medical field and her love of science and math. HOSA has been very impactful on her life, giving her an abundance of extraordinary opportunities that would not have been available to her otherwise. As a state officer she plans on giving members more resources to make the most of every opportunity available to them. Kiersten’s message she wishes to share is “live up to your own expectations”. She wants everyone to know that self motivation alone will help you achieve your goals. “When you want to succeed as much as you want to breath, then you will be successful.” -Eric Thomas
Kali Mansur - State Vice President
Kali Mansur is a senior at Southwest High school in Lincoln Nebraska, where she has been involved in HOSA for the last three years. She plans on using her experience to maintain and improve Nebraska HOSA as a whole and expand opportunities throughout the state. She also participates in speech, cross country and KEY club. Kali is incredibly excited and honored to be a part of the Nebraska HOSA State Officer Team and will be sure to bring her best foot forward to have HOSA be a positive experience for everyone.
